thefiresinside are: Charles Anderson, Keith Ullrich, and Dorian Cohen.
(some of) our story
Anderson, Ullrich, and Cohen have been friends for 40+ years. Their first group collaboration was a band called Home of Fire - Cohen on lead vocals, Ullrich on the Mini Moog, Anderson and Fred Kepler on guitar. In the intervening years between our 1982 garage band and April, 2023, our collaborations were fewer, though individually we continued creative endeavors.
With the passing of a few friends (Fred Kepler among them), we decided to get off our asses and get back to collaborating...before it was too late. So in April of 2023, the three of us met in the bungalow with the yellow door in Long Beach, CA. We all brought instruments, gear, and no small amount of excitement to this gathering. Without hesitation, and with minimal gear-related issues, we began recording: Dorian reading his poetry (and one by Norman Dubie,) while Keith and Charles provided music beds. We all marveled at how easy it was to get back into it.
After our successful reboot, we started talking about how to share our new material with friends and family. This site is the result. The name, thefiresinside, is an homage to the original band, Home of Fire. The plural acknowledges the diverse projects we'll be doing - and the fires under our asses to get busy! We hope you enjoy!
